Car hits power pole, takes out power in Pialba

AT 10:49pm Monday 4th Jan 2015 while finishing up work and pushing the button to take my roller door down on Boat Harbour Drive an almighty bang and arc and my door stopped as everything went pitch black.

A transformer at the end of Beach Road Pialba Hervey Bay next to Stocklands shopping centre had exploded after a white compact sedan had made impact with it.

Forced to manually pull door down in the windy and wet weather after speaking to Ergon Police were first on the scene as a transformer across from the cinema was also taken out.

Some business including the 24/7 caltex service station and the alike were without power while traffic lights exiting from Stocklands and Beach road and Old maryborough road were down.

Ergon were very quick to rectify in trying weather conditions and power was resumed very early the following morning.
