Car impounded after street race in Hervey Bay

AN 18-YEAR-OLD man had his car impounded overnight after allegedly being caught street racing in Hervey Bay.

Sergeant Paul Byrnes said the P-plater was doing 98kmh in a 70kmh zone along Ibis Bld in Eli Waters at 11pm on Thursday night.

He was charged with speeding and driving a defective vehicle and will appear in the Hervey Bay Magistrates Court.

Police said they were not able to apprehend the other driver involved in the alleged race.
