Cattle a cause for concern over tick fever

NORTHERN and western graziers have been strongly advised to consider tick fever vaccinations for drought-affected cattle being sent to infected areas for agistment.

Agriculture Minister John McVeigh said any cattle breed over nine months of age could develop tick fever.

"British and European breeds are at greatest risk, but Brahman and crossbred cattle can also be affected," he said.

Vaccines cost $4 to $5 a head the department.
