CCTV footage captures intruder lurking on man's patio
A CONCERNED Toowoomba resident has shared CCTV footage of a stranger lurking on his front patio in the early hours of the morning.
Darryl Stewart filmed a man wearing hoodie searching his patio and walking down the side of his home in Harristown on Monday at 4am.
The man doesn't appear to take anything but Mr Stewart posted the video to Toowoomba Crime Alerts and Discussions Facebook page as a warning.
He said he thought the beep of the camera scared the intruder off.
He isn't the only one who has caught someone unwanted on their property at night.
Newtown resident Lexie Car shared CCTV footage of her car being broken into last month.
She said break-ins and people intruding on properties were happening far too often in Toowoomba.
Residents who commented on Mr Stewart's post agreed, with many people saying it appeared the intruder was looking for cigarette butts.
Robert Taylor said people came onto his property looking for cigarette butts regularly.
"They don't usually find any because I clean our ashtrays. You should see them lurking around the hospital exits picking up old butts. Just filthy."
Clint Hood said: "I know there's no excuse for trespassing but a lot are just after dumpers. So if you're a non-smoker, he might of seen no ashtray."
Hamish Guy said: "I am sure that's the same guy at the back of Fiveways Hotel a few nights ago."
