Aged care group gives thanks to M'boro volunteers

PRESCARE'S Groundwater Lodge in Granville has rewarded long-time volunteers with a special morning tea and awards ceremony.

Bev Pelling, In Unity and The Silvertones have an incredible 75 years combined experience entertaining Maryborough's seniors.

Pat Mckenzie accepted the award on behalf of In Unity, a group which has performed for Groundwater residents for more than 21 years.

"I love singing and music and the elderly ... I hope we can continue for years," she said.

A special mention went to the late Bill Kilpatrick, an original In Unity member who never missed a rehearsal or performance.

Silvertones members husband and wife duo Hazel and Allen Sama said volunteering allowed them to share their love of music.

PresCare's Glenn Bradley said volunteers were the lifeblood of the community.
