Celebrity alert: Angelina Jolie expected on Gold Coast

RUMOURS are flying Angelina Jolie and her brood will soon be on the Gold Coast.

It is understood Jolie will be shooting at least part of her Second World War drama Unbroken at Village Roadshow Studios, in Oxenford.

Unbroken will be largely set on a floating life raft and Village Roadshow's 1200sqm water tank would likely provide the perfect prop for the film.

A Village Roadshow Studios spokeswoman said staff were not allowed to discuss the matter and would not offer further comment.

Rumours surrounding a Gold Coast appearance by Jolie sparked excitement on Twitter.

"Angelina Jolie is coming to the Gold Coast I live on the Gold Coast please adopt me," Twitter handle @vicodiniall wrote.

"Angelina Jolie is down at the Gold Coast OMG what," @anhtma wrote

"Omg Angelina Jolie is filming on the Gold Coast. Surely there's a chance we may cross paths?!," @TezCarlson wrote.

The Hollywood A-lister arrived in Sydney last Friday with her children Shiloh, Maddox, Pax, Zahara Marley, Vivienne and Knox and will be in Australia for three months to film Unbroken, which is her second stint as a director.

Unbroken tells the true story of war hero and Olympic track star Louie Zamperini, who survived without food or water for 47 days when his plane crashed in the Pacific in 1943.

He endured prolonged hunger, air strikes and shark attacks before he was captured by the Japanese and ended up in a prisoner-of-war camp.
