Celtics sweetener seals Kyrie Irving signing

KYRIE Irving's blockbuster NBA trade from Cleveland to Boston will go ahead after the teams reportedly struck an agreement following a late setback.

The deal, which will see the Celtics give up star Isaiah Thomas and plenty more, hit a snag earlier this week due to Cleveland's concerns about Thomas' physical condition.

However ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported on Thursday a deal had been reached, with Boston clinching the deal by agreeing to throw in a 2020 draft pick on top of what was already on offer: Thomas, Jae Crowder, Ante Zizic and the Nets' unprotected 2018 first-round pick.

The agreement comes after All-Star point guard Thomas underwent his routine physical with the Cavaliers last week.

Thomas missed three games in the 2017 Eastern Conference finals because of a hip injury.

According to the NBA Collective Bargaining Agreement, a trade could have been voided if one of the players involved failed to pass a physical..
