Children were in crash car

AN OAKHURST man who allegedly crashed his car while four small children were in the back seat has faced court charged with dangerous driving while intoxicated.

Police say Shane Floyd Andrews crashed into two cars after being caught speeding at 146kmh down Kent Street in Maryborough on October 9.

Andrews allegedly tried to overtake on the left of the car ahead of him, crashing into that car and another car parked on the side of the road.

A breath test allegedly produced a positive result of .13.

The children in the back were all aged under 10. A male passenger was in the front.

No one was injured.

Andrews was accompanied to Maryborough Magistrates Court by a woman and a young girl.

He was charged with drink-driving, exceeding the carrying capacity of the vehicle, speeding and dangerous driving.

No pleas were entered and Andrews was released on bail to re-appear in court on December 21.
