Chris Hemsworth's star is about to shine even brighter

HE'S got the looks, the Northern Rivers lifestyle, a wonderful family and a bank account to match his global popularity.

Now Chris Hemsworth will consolidate his stardom by getting his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce made the announcement last week, with 35 stars getting their names added to the list.

Besides Hemsworth, other figures added will be Julia Roberts, Spike Lee, Octavia Spencer and Batman, plus figures such as Christina Applegate, Cindy Crawford, Laurence Fishburne, Andy Cohen, Alicia Keys, Custis '50 Cent' Jackson, Elvis Costello and the late Muddy Waters, amongst others in the TV, music and entertainment areas.

Each nominee's sponsor reportedly agrees to pay $US50,000 ($A72,250) to the Hollywood Historic Trust charitable foundation to have the star erected in their honour.

There is no date for the unveiling of Hemsworth's star yet, but there is a two-year period for it to be completed from the announcement.

The Hollywood Walk of Fame comprises more than 2,600 five-pointed terrazzo and brass stars embedded in the sidewalks along 15 blocks of Hollywood Boulevard and three blocks of Vine Street in Hollywood, California.

The stars are public monuments to achievement in the entertainment industry, bearing the names of a mix of musicians, actors, directors, producers, musical and theatrical groups, fictional characters, and others.

The Walk of Fame is administered by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce and maintained by the self-financing Hollywood Historic Trust.

It is a popular tourist destination, with a reported 10 million visitors in 2003.

Hemsworth moved to the Northern Rivers in 2015 with wife Elsa Pataky and their three children, and is currently promoting his latest film, Men in Black : International.

His upcoming projects are a reboot of Jay and Silent Bob, Dhaka - a film about an Indian businessman who recruits a mercenary to find his kidnapped son -and an untitled Hulk Hogan biopic.
