THE winners of the Fraser Coast Regional Council's Light Up the Fraser Coast competition have been announced.

Two homes in Pt Vernon's Murphy St took out four categories between them with to represent Christmas glory in Hervey Bay.

Best first time display was won by Scott and Dianne Hobson's home at 81 Murphy St, with neighbour Geoff Arnell taking out the three categories of best lights display, best overall lights and display and best nativity scene (Hervey Bay and surrounds).

This Christmas is the eighth year-in-a-row Mr Arnell has lit up his home for all to enjoy.

He has now won the title of best overall lights and display five times.

The other three categories were taken out by home owners in Maryborough and nearby vicinities.

Langers Broadway Shoe Store took out the best business display, with best nativity scene in Maryborough and surrounds awarded to 17 Arthur St and best neighbourhood taken by Annie St in Tinana.

This year there were 14 entrants from Hervey Bay and 23 from Maryborough and surrounding areas.
