Cinemas prepare for Star Wars premiere

MOVIE theatres across the Fraser Coast are preparing for arguably one of the biggest nights in cinema history when the long-awaited Star Wars episode VII: The Force Awakens hits the screens in less than 36 hours.

Big Screen Cinemas Hervey Bay and @Cinemas Maryborough are both holding midnight screenings of the sci-fi epic, and tickets are selling out fast.

A member of the @Cinemas management team said for the Maryborough midnight screening, she recommended people pre-book their tickets and arrive two hours before the screening starts.

"I would say get there at 10 or 10.30pm on the night," She said.

"For screenings after that we are only selling tickets at the door but we recommend people get in about 20 minutes before the movie starts."

She said @Cinemas was expecting Star Wars to be one of the biggest nights of the year.

"There's been a lot of hype going on, from many different ages and genders, everyone's getting really into it," She said.

"The movie company suggests one of the most popular movies the past few years and we're hoping that will come through to us here too."
