City rallies behind expectant mum after husband’s death

THE Blackstone man who died in a motorbike crash on his 34th birthday was expecting a child in July.

David 'Dave' Bailey, who married new wife Sarah on October 22, died after losing control of his motorcycle on Mount Nebo Rd travelling towards Mount Glorious on Boxing Day.

The soon-to-be father never came home to his beloved wife and died at the scene of the crash after his black and yellow Yamaha YZFR6 left the road about 12.45pm on Saturday.

A gofundme site has been set up to help Mr Bailey's new family and had already raised more than $4000 in less than 24 hours, with donations continuing to pour in.

The fundraising site shares Mr Bailey's story and paints him as a loving husband who was popular in the local biking community.

"He tragically died on the mountain, a road he had ridden many times before.

"He died doing what he loved to do," it states.

"Dave was loved and respected by many in the biking community, even those he had never met personally.

"This tragedy has touched people far and wide and his memory will never be forgotten.

"Ride in Peace Dave. You are forever in our hearts."

Police are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the crash to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
