Classic cars bring back memories

EVERYWHERE the Conrodders Hot Rod Customs Hervey Bay group goes they are sure to attract attention.

Secretary of the club, Barbara Crouch, said that when the beautiful, restored classic model cars get together they often attract waves, with plenty of people approaching them, especially when they fill up at petrol stations.

Ms Crouch said she was approached by a man who told her that he used to have one of the classic model cars when he was younger and that seeing it again brought back some fond memories.

Another woman was thrilled to see one of the other classic cars – she remembered her parents having the same car.

“She was just wrapt,” Ms Crouch said.

The group was established in 2005 and Ms Crouch said that they often get together and have a “nice social time”.

“We all have a passion for cars,” she said.

The club is affiliated with the Australian Street Rod Federation.

“A lot of work goes into getting them up and running.

“The work that goes into the cars is amazing.

“We do have a lot of fun together.”

Ms Crouch said that when the cars go to a show it gives the club the opportunity to appreciate the hard work that others put into their cars.

“When you do so much work yourself you appreciate how much work others have done.”

The club is planning a dinner run for next Friday night, giving them the chance to show off their classic cars.

The club also holds a barbecue at the Charlton Apartments on the Esplanade every third Friday night on the month. To find out more call 4125 8423.
