Classical guitarist related to artist Arthur Boyd to perform
INTERNATIONALLY renowned classical guitarist Rupert Boyd and cellist Laura Metcalf will perform at Gatakers Artspace in Maryborough as part of their 2013 Australian concert tour.
Australian-born Rupert Boyd, who now lives in New York, has performed throughout Australia, Europe, Canada, China and the United States in venues such as Carnegie Hall and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
He is related to two Australian icons - artist Arthur Boyd and architect Robin Boyd and his music is often heard on ABC Classic FM.
American-born Laura Metcalf has also performed sold-out concerts at Carnegie Hall, the US Library of Congress and the Lincoln Center and features regularly at Chamber Music Festivals across the United States and Europe.
She has collaborated with members of the New York Philharmonic and the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra and has appeared on television on the David Letterman Show and the Today Show.
Her music is described as sensitive and melodic and this will be her first visit to Australia.
The program will include Schubert's Arpeggione Sonata, Manuel de Falla's flamenco-inspired popular Spanish songs, Arvo Part's Spiegel im Spiegel and other works from South America, Europe and Australia.
