Coast claims strongest junior driver base in Queensland

THE FRASER Coast can claim to have one of the strongest junior driver bases in Queensland motorsport.

Maryborough Speedway president Wayne Moller made the claim when asked of the club's junior driving stocks. This weekend's event features a 22-strong junior sedans, eight junior Formula 500 drivers, and 17 quarter midget drivers across three different classes.

That's before you consider karts, which usually boasts about 20 different drivers.

"If you look at quarter midgets, formula 500s, sedans and karts, we've probably got the strongest club in Queensland juniors-wise,” Moller said.

This will be the first time the quarter midgets compete this season. All quarter midget races will be held pre-program, and will finish before the main program starts at 4pm.

The 22 junior sedans drivers will compete in the second round of the Shannon Series.
