Coast shivers through coldest day

The Fraser Coast has shivered through its coldest day of the year with the mercury not even nudging the mid teens today.

Marybourough and Hervey Bay both shared a maximum of just 14 degrees at 11 am, and the temperature has been dropping ever since.

Persistent light rain has fallen on the region throughout the day with Hervey Bay airport recording close to 20mm since 9 am.

Cold and wet conditions are set to continue through the weekend with forecasters predicting rain periods for Sunday and extending into Monday .

The inclement weather hasn't dampened everyone's spirits with good crowds recorded  at a number of Fraser Coast events today.

The showgrounds Country Music Stampede, Tiaro Bail Up and the Burrum River Skins golf competition all recording strong crowd numbers.
