COLD SNAP: Don't put the winter woolies away just yet

IF you felt cool this morning don't put the extra blanket away just yet as there is more chilly weather ahead for the Fraser Coast.

The minimum temperature for Hervey Bay dropped to 9.6 degrees at 5.30am compared to a warm 17 degrees at the same time on Thursday morning, according to the Bureau of Meteorology.

In Maryborough it was slightly cooler at 9.5 degrees compared to 16.1 degrees on Thursday.

The maximum temperature is forecast to reach a comfortable 22 degrees.

The weekend is looking much the same - so if you are enjoying the cool weather lap it up while it lasts.

According to the Bureau of Meteorology we can expect temps to stay a few degrees below average for this time of the year over the weekend with minimums expected to drop to seven degrees and top temps expected to be around the 22 degree mark.

It will be short lived though, with the cool burst expected to change come Monday with warmer temps of around 12 to 24 degrees to finish of winter on the Fraser Coast.

It follows temperatures almost nine degrees above average for August earlier in the week.
