Man convicted for school visit

MATTHEW Robert Lyons has a conviction recorded beside his name after pleading guilty yesterday to trespassing at a Maryborough school.

Magistrate John Smith was told Lyons walked into the yard of Maryborough High School on August 31, 2009 and sat with students while they were having lunch.

Defending solicitor Tammy Kerle told Maryborough Magistrates Court that her client had been quite young at the time and it was only a social visit.

He had left when staff ordered.

Lyons also pleaded guilty to unlawfully entering the yard of a residence on Queens Street in Maryborough and attempting to open the door of a house.
