Coral reef fin fish off the menu

CORAL reef fin fish will be off limits from October 5 to 9 and from November 3 to 7 to protect them during spawning and ensure the sustainability of the fisheries.

The closure for coral trout and other coral reef fin fish extends up the coast from just south of Rooney Point on Fraser Island and a map can be found at www.deedi.qld.gov.au.

Queensland Boating and Fisheries Patrol district officer Karl Roebuck said anyone caught with coral reef fin fish species during the five-day closures faced a $400 on-the-spot fine or a court appearance.
