Cottage overhaul triumph

THE loving and meticulous renovation of a neglected old cottage has taken out one of the top gongs in the Fraser Coast Heritage Awards.

Val McIntosh, the owner of 55 Fort St, Maryborough, was last night awarded the Fraser Coast Regional Council Residential Award.

Judges were taken by the transformation of the cottage by Simpkins Constructions and John Perrin Painting Services. They were equally as impressed by massive efforts to relocate and renovate Stoneleigh, "the old Kingston house", and awarded a second residential award to owners Jeff and Lynette Schmidt.

The Queenslander was relocated from beside St Stephen's Hospital in Maryborough and onto a 32ha property at Tinana. Work was by David Wright House Removers, Bruce Wilcox, Kev Brown and JF White and Sons.
