Council advises of airport parking

NEW council parking arrangements at the Fraser Coast Airport in Hervey Bay will continue to evolve as security and operational requirements change.

“The new arrangements also ensure that the airport meets best practice security requirements,” a spokesman said yesterday.

“Security requirements are determined by the Federal Government.”

Airports around the country were continually monitoring their parking arrangements and an increasing number were eliminating passenger drop-off areas at their front doors and directing all traffic to their car parks.

“Vehicles on short-term stays can park for one hour for free in the public car park.

“Extra disability parking bays have been added to the front row of the public car park.

“Passengers requiring assistance should arrange, in advance, for help from their respective airline,” he said.

Council used part of its $1.08 million government stimulus package grant to partly fund the new parking arrangements.
