Council proposes planning scheme amendments

MARYBOROUGH'S residential areas may change if the proposed amendments to Fraser Coast Regional Council's planning scheme are approved.

Under the scheme council is seeking to rezone some areas near the Aubinville Waste Water Treatment Plant to residential areas.

"It is also proposed to amend the Planning Scheme to reduce the extent of the limited development (constrained land) zone surrounding the Aubinville Waste Water Treatment Plant," the proposal reads.

The lots seeking to be amended include 437 to 445 Lennox St, 28 to 33 Muriel St and 36 Smith Street.

Council released a number of proposed amendments to the region's planning scheme and is now seeking public opinion on the new draft.

Changes proposed also include changes to the areas which are allowed to display billboards.

Public response to the scheme closes on February 19.
