Council rejects application for phone tower at Poona

THE Fraser Coast Regional Council has rejected an application for a Telstra and NBN shared tower at Poona.

The application was tabled in July but the council elected to postpone it for further discussion and community consultation.

Councillor Phil Truscott told the meeting he was frustrated with the lack of mobile coverage in Poona and surrounds.

A council report recommended the tower wasn't built in that area and an alternative site be sought.

Cr Truscott was the only person to vote against the recommendation the application be denied.

The tower was rejected 8-1.

Another NBN tower on Janet Rd at Island Plantation was approved.
