Council to vote on development of Original Maryborough Site

THE controversial development application over the State Heritage Listed Original Maryborough Site will be decided by the council this Wednesday.

The council is both the applicant and the assessor.

The recommendation from the council is to approve the modern development on the site.

Heritage councillor George Seymour said he would be voting against the development.

"The disregard for the historical significance of the site and the community's attachment to it has been staggeringly arrogant," he said.

"The site should be protected for future generations."

Earlier this month, much of the site of the proposed residential development was placed on the State Heritage Register.

The development application will be decided at the council meeting this Wednesday at the Maryborough City Hall.
