FRASER Coast shoppers will spend their first dollars at the $116 million Stockland Hervey Bay when it opens on July 10.

Local tradesmen are working hard to finalise construction and internal finishes are now 70% complete.

Kmart, Coles and 24 new speciality stores will open on July 10.

Stockland Hervey Bay centre manager Paul Kelsey said staff were preparing for a big launch day.

"We see this event as a celebration of everything that's great about living in Hervey Bay," he said.

"It's actually the first of many major milestones we'll celebrate this year, culminating in a grand opening event later this year when all redevelopment work is completed and the balance of new retailers are open for trade.

"Retailers have been quick to recognise the growth potential of this region."

As part of the redevelopment and reveal of the new centre, a number of national retailers will be unveiling brand new store designs and fit-outs.

The new centre will also become home to Harris Scarfe, Best and Less, Quiksilver and Kathmandu.
