LOUISE Parry and Craig Ashley have run away from Dubbo to Hervey Bay's sandy shores to begin the next chapter of their lives.

Together for the past five years and parents to two-year-old son Toby, the couple will marry in Point Vernon on New Year's Eve surrounded only by nature.

Rather than spend tens of thousands of dollars on a wedding and honeymoon, the bride-and-groom-to-be decided a $3000 elopement to the Fraser Coast would do.

It's a wedding, minus the guests, Louise said.

"Getting the family together, we weren't looking forward to it," she said.

While "stacks of money" has been saved, the couple's elopement will come with all the trimmings.
