Couple face court on drug charges

A BIGGENDEN couple accused of running a speed laboratory will stand trial in the next sittings of the Maryborough Supreme Court.

Christopher and Suzanne Evans are charged with producing speed, possessing speed, possessing cannabis, failing to dispose of syringes and needles and possessing a prohibited combination of chemicals.

Their charges of producing and possessing speed were this week handed up to the Supreme Court. The remaining charges will be dealt with next year.

The Maryborough Magistrates Court has heard that during a police raid on August 25 police netted 66 items from the Evans’ family home including laboratory glassware, heating and cooling sources, toxic chemicals and cold and flu tablets.

The parents of three young children – aged 2, 10 and 13 – were granted bail on their last appearance.

“If you care about your three children you wouldn’t have this rubbish in your household,” Magistrate John Smith said.
