Couple winched to safety after boat runs aground
RACQ CareFlight Rescue has winched two people to safety after their boat ran aground on the Sunshine Coast overnight.
The local couple had been fishing at Inskip Point south west of Rainbow Beach when their boat ran aground just before 2am.
"It was low tide and they simply ran out of water under the boat," RACQ CareFlight Aircrewman Dan King said.
"Rather than risk walking out in the dark when they didn't know exactly where they were they did the right thing and launched their emergency beacon."
The Rescue Crew winched them into the RACQ CareFlight Rescue helicopter less than an hour later.
Both were unharmed.
