Courtney caps top weekend at Winton with win

HOLDEN'S James Courtney cruised to victory by almost three seconds in the final race of the V8 Supercars round at Winton yesterday.

Lockwood Racing's Fabian Coulthard came in second, with Wilson Security Racing's Chaz Mostert claiming third.

The result capped an impressive meet for Courtney after he picked up third earlier in the day, behind Pepsi Max Crew FPR Ford's Mark Winterbottom, and Team BOC's Jason Bright.

The pressure though has mounted on series leader Jamie Whincup, who now holds just a 47-point lead in the championship standings, ahead of Red Bull Racing teammate Craig Lowndes.

Just 190 points then separates third-placed Will Davison from ninth-placed Garth Tander, with Courtney sixth.

On Saturday at the north-east Victorian event, Nissan's Norton 360 Racing teammates James Moffatt and Michael Caruso recorded an historic one-two finish.
