CraftFest well on way to $10K

MARYBOROUGH City Hall was packed with craft lovers browsing and buying the unique hand-made items on offer yesterday.

Co-organiser Kathleen Lowe said the three-day annual CraftFest was off to a brilliant start with crowds packing the hall throughout the day.

“The transformation from our set-up day (Wednesday) has been terrific and it’s so exciting.

“It’s hard to put a figure on it yet but I think we’re well on the way to raising our target of $10,000 that will go to charity; last year we raised $7500.”

Ms Lowe said stallholders from Rockhampton to Brisbane Valley joined local artisans to present unique, high quality crafts.

“There are a lot of new crafts and stallholders this year.

“The original idea was for the event to include only local stallholders but to have such a diverse selection of crafts we had to open it to others ... we couldn’t have too much of the same things.”

The CraftFest continues today and tomorrow; entry $2; all items are handmade – perfect for unique Christmas gifts.
