Fatal crash disrupts phone lines

SOME landline phone services in the Craignish area have been disrupted after Tuesday's fatal crash on Pialba-Burrum Heads Rd.

One of the cars hit a phone booth and other telecommunications infrastructure.

"One of our roadside pillars has been damaged as a result of the incident and some landline services may be disrupted," a spokesman for Telstra said.

"We are working as quickly as possible to restore services and thank everyone for their patience."

Repairs may take a day or two to be completed.

The spokesman said the company's thoughts were with the family of Mr Burke, who was killed in the smash.
