Truck driver helps put out car fire on Coast

FIRE crews are unsure how a blaze started in a Ford Fiesta that was parked in a garage of a home on the Fraser Coast.

Crews were called to a car fire on March St in Maryborough at 9pm on Monday after reports the vehicle was well alight.

A truck driver passing by the home noticed the blaze and brought it under control with a fire extinguisher.

When crews arrived on scene there was still a lot of smoke contained to the interior of the car which they managed to get under control.

It is unsure at this stage how the fire started.

At the same time another crew was called to a grass fire in a paddock on Kent St.

It is unsure how the blaze started.

Crews extinguished the fire quickly.
