Cries heard in job campaign

A GRASSROOTS community campaign to secure Maryborough's manufacturing jobs is gaining momentum.

The campaign started on Wednesday outside Downer EDI when the Australian Manufacturing Workers Union called on governments to "save our jobs, save Maryborough".

A Facebook page with the slogan attracted more than 1200 likes and a petition is circulating in the community.

Maryborough MP Bruce Saunders said he would fight for longer rail contracts to be secured for Downer EDI.
