Criminals rob $14,000 in jewellery while owner in kitchen

Jewellery believed to be valued at $14,000 has been snatched from a house on the Fraser Coast while the owner was home.

A Point Vernon home on the Esplanade was broken into between 3pm and 9.3pm on Monday.

A 77-year-old was home at the time and told police she was in the kitchen when she was robbed.

The Hervey Bay woman told police that the door was left open only slightly to allow her dog to come in and out.

It is believed she only left the area for about five minutes.

She noticed her jewellery box open and what she says is $14,000 worth.

If you have any information that may assist police call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
