Dan Murphy's taking shape

A SLOW evolution has been taking place on Richmond Street this year.

The impressive building taking shape next to the Old Sydney Hotel is expected to be transformed into Maryborough’s newest and biggest bottle shop very soon.

Construction of the new Dan Murphy’s store has taken several months.

An official opening date was yet to be confirmed by the company but it is believed the store could be open before Christmas.

The development application for the 1240 square metre project was submitted by ALH Group and Place Design Group to the Fraser Coast Regional Council and was approved in June last year.

The plan, including a 730 square metre liquor barn, was designed by Brisbane firm Darren Dickfos Architects.

A Dan Murphy’s store opened in Hervey Bay about two-and-a-half years ago.

A brand new store in Bundaberg opened just last week.

The company claims to have the largest range, with about 3500 products.

The Maryborough store will take the number of Dan Murphy’s outlets in Queensland to 31.
