Naked street dancer fined $200

DANCING naked in the street might have been fun at the time but the Maryborough woman who stripped off outside a local pub on September 10 appeared suitably modest when she faced court this week.

Miranda Jane Glasheen's shenanigans cost her a $200 fine when she pleaded guilty in Maryborough Magistrates Court to being a public nuisance.

Prosecutor Sergeant Michael Quirk said police were called to the corner of Wharf and Bazaar streets at 2.30am that day after Glasheen started taking her clothes off in the middle of the street.

Witnesses told police she had been drinking at a nearby licensed venue before she decided to undress.

“She stripped off her clothes and was seen dancing in the middle of the street and singing loudly,” Sgt Quirk said.

The 24-year-old Maryborough woman had dressed herself by the time police arrived at the scene but the drama was far from over.

Glasheen became verbally abusive towards the officers and she was arrested and taken to the watchhouse. Once there she again started taking off her clothes and threw them at police.

Magistrate Dennis Beutel fined her $200 and did not record a conviction.
