Dark weekend in 'Borough

IT was a weekend without power for many Maryborough residents.

About 1500 households at Maryborough, Oakhurst and Dunmore were left in the dark on Saturday after a car smashed into a pole on the corner ofGeorge and Russell streets.

The crash sparked a fire causing a transformer to fail about 7.05pm.

Power came back on for about 450 customers within an hour but it was not until 9.40pm when power was fully restored.

A second interruption about 10pm left 500 households at Oakhurst, Dunmore and Yengarie without power for 20 minutes.

Meanwhile, about 1900 homes at Tinana lost power about 12.40am when a bushfire threatened powerlines.

Power was restored to all but 107 customers at 1.20pm. It was not until6.10pm that power was fully restored after part of the line was replaced.
