Harvey Norman opening a success

HARVEY Norman's opening in Maryborough yesterday was perfect timing for Glenice Whittaker of Maryborough.

“My old microwave blew up at the weekend,” she said as salesman James Bishop carried a new oven to her car about an hour after the store started trading as Harvey Norman.

Ms Whittaker was one of the first customers to take advantage of the wider range of stock available in the new-look shop, which ceased to be known as Clive Peeters on Friday.

“I've always shopped with these guys and I'm so pleased the same staff are staying under the Harvey Norman banner.”

Co-franchisee John Marron said the changeover had run smoothly and business was steady on their first day as Harvey Norman.

“The general feedback has been positive,” Mr Marron said. “A lot of people are very excited.”

More stock is due to arrive in-store soon and a photo lab will be installed within weeks. Sunday trading from 10am to 4pm has been confirmed.
