Deck the cars and go for a cruise

ONE CLUB that is definitely spreading Christmas cheer this year is the Fraser Coast Historic Vehicle Club.

Decked out with a string of lights, the cars travelled around Hervey Bay looking at the dazzling displays of Christmas lights – and tonight they will visit Maryborough to take in the various Christmas displays.

Club member John Clifford said people were excited to see the cars – especially with their Christmas lights shining inside.

“It’s one of those feel-good things,” Mr Clifford said.

“But we are used to people reacting like that.

“A lot of people get a thrill out of seeing us.

“Any time we go out in these old cars we get a bit of a reaction.”

The club doesn’t just get a good response from those who grew up with the cars and remember them fondly – young people also love to see them.

“The kids love seeing the cars – sometimes they have never seen anything like them before.”

Mr Clifford said the group had jumped at the chance to take the cars out – and members had also seen plenty of houses getting into the Christmas spirit throughout the Bay.

“They’re all pretty good – Hayman Court is always spectacular.”
