Department still investigating Coast councillors’ conduct

THE Department of Local Government is continuing its investigation into councillors Rolf Light and Darren Everard almost six months after the first complaint was lodged

Cr Everard referred himself to the department last November when he admitted to fabricating four emails and sending them to the Chronicle.

Cr Light was sent to the Department for accessing a document relating to the sport precinct from the council’s internal system.

A spokesman from the Department of Infrastructure, Local Government and Planning again refused to comment on the investigation.

“The Department does not provide comment on complaints matters that may be under consideration or investigation,” he said.

“All complaints matters are dealt with in accordance with the requirements of the Local Government Act 2009.”
