Disability pensioner fined after waterpipes and drugs found

A DISABILITY pensioner has been fined almost $1500 after police paid a visit to his Maryborough hotel room.

The Maryborough Magistrates Court heard Bradley Ian Thompson, 45, was in possession of cannabis and three waterpipes when officers went to talk to him about an unrelated matter on May 24.

When asked about the waterpipes, he told police that he only owned one and the other two belonged to friends who "come over to smoke".

Thompson, a resident of the CBD hotel for four months, pleaded guilty to possessing dangerous drugs and drug utensils and permitting use of a place for drug use.

He was fined $1450.
