Do you want to chip in to help good Samaritan pay fine?

THE community has the opportunity to get behind Burrum Heads Good Samaritan Doug Waters and help to pay his fine.

Mr Waters was fined $7500 for damaging the Burrum Coast National Park while helping bogged motorists, and was ordered to fill in a waterhole he created.

A bank account will be set up where the community can help.

Senate candidate Peter Schuback chipped in the first $50 because he said Mr Waters' situation was ridiculous.

"It's bureaucracy gone mad to fine someone for helping others," he said.

"If we get 20 people to donate $50 then that's $1000 straight away."

To donate, phone Mr Schuback on 0408 458 232.
