Which Fraser Coast servo sells the cheapest fuel for 1000km?

THE Fraser Coast is home to the second cheapest petrol price in Queensland, with unleaded ethanol-based fuel selling for $1.189 a litre at Tiaro's United Service Station.

Drivers would have to travel more than 1000km to find cheaper fuel in Queensland, with Ayr having the cheapest unleaded fuel in the state at $1.15 a litre.

Unleaded ethanol-based petrol was yesterday selling for $1.169 a litre at Tiaro while the price of diesel fuel was just $1.167 a litre.

RACQ spokeswoman Renee Smith said unleaded prices in parts of the Fraser Coast were currently more than 10 cents a litre cheaper than the average in Brisbane.

"Maryborough at 122 cents per litre average for ULP is 12 cents per litre cheaper than Brisbane," she said.

The news wasn't as good in Hervey Bay, where petrol stations were averaging 130 cents a litre.

"While still cheaper than Brisbane at 130 cents per litre, we believe prices in Hervey Bay are 10 cents per litre dearer than what is fair, we'd like Hervey Bay servos to drop prices to down around 119 cents per litre," Ms Smith said.

KP Singh from Tiaro's United Service Station said he was seeing a steady flow of customers every day.

"It's been really busy. We are getting fuel deliveries every day, we're selling a lot of fuel," he said.

He said customers had given him a lot of feedback about the competitive price of the fuel in Tiaro.

Bauple's Tim Salloway said he often came to Tiaro to fuel up because he knew he would get a good fuel price.

"It's always a decent price," he said.

Ms Smith urged motorists to shop around before purchasing fuel before travelling during the Christmas period.

"Brisbane, the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast are on a price cycle which is in its dearest phase," Ms Smith said.

"So it will be best to fill up at home if heading south for Christmas.

"Brisbane's average today is 134 cents per litre for ULP."
