Dog squad catches thieves who broke into Pt Vernon home

TWO thieves who broke into a Corser St, Pt Vernon home on Sunday night were caught thanks some help from the police dog squad.

The thieves took car keys and a mobile phone before the home owner disturbed them about 8.45pm.

They were briefly chased down the street by the homeowner who lost them.

Police called the dog squad to track the two teens through a number of streets in Pt Vernon.

The pair were seen briefly near the Beach Rd and Charlton  Esp roundabout before the dog squad were able to catch up with them on Charles St.

They were charged with burglary and will be dealt with under provisions of the Youth Justices Act.
