Doing the time because helping out youth is no crime

COUNCILLOR Trevor McDonald faced time behind bars this weekend - and he wasn't the Fraser Coast's only big name to be locked up.

Mix FM's Ryan Bebbington and members of the Fraser Coast Mariners were just some of the volunteers to get behind the cause by being locked up for the PCYC's Doing Time to Prevent Youth Crime fundraiser.

The aim was to raise money to fund local youth projects run by PCYC.

PCYC Hervey Bay branch manager Sergeant Tracey Meyers said the event, which was held in the McDonald's carpark, would see funds raised stay within the local community.

"What we are hoping to do with the money raised is fund a youth camp later in the year which will be run by our youth management team made up of teens from the community," she said.
