Don't be a fool, change the batteries in your smoke alarms

HAVE you changed the batteries in your smoke alarms yet today?

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services are urging residents to make the change on April 1 as part of the annual Don't be a Fool campaign.

A QFES representative said the campaign served as an important reminder to Queenslanders to ensure they were armed with the best defence for surviving household fires.

QFES and battery maker Duracell recommend using long-lasting 9V alkaline batteries, testing the smoke alarm once a month and changing the batteries each year to ensure year-round protection.
