Doon Villa face minor premier Warriors for women's title

A SNAPPED achilles tendon has made co-captain Sandii Barsby Doon Villa's biggest supporter in the team's most important game of the year.

Barsby suffered the injury in the early minutes of the Magpies' 1-1 draw with Tinana on August 4, and will watch her teammates attempt to win the Fraser Coast Division 1 Ladies crown tonight.

It won't be easy, as Doon Villa must overcome minor premiers United Warriors to lift the trophy at Federation Park Field, Maryborough.

Barsby is confident.

"If we turn up, I think we can win,” she said. "They're a well-oiled team but I think we can win it if we go in with the right attitude.”

Goalkeeper Jessica Raines has kept Doon Villa in the hunt thanks to her work in the net, while the experience of Julie Berry has proved invaluable.

Fraser Flames will face Sunbury in the Division 2 Ladies grand final at 6.30pm, with Doon Villa's game against United Warriors to kick off at 8pm.
