Woman, 77, faces court after shopping centre car park death

A 77-YEAR-old woman will face the District Court after a car crash that killed an elderly man at a Hervey Bay shopping centre.

Janice Durrington appeared in Hervey Bay Magistrate Court on Thursday to face the charge of dangerous operation of a vehicle causing death.

Ms Durrington was allegedly the driver of a vehicle that crashed into an 81-year-old man from Redcliffe in the car park in Bay Plaza on June 6, 2012.

Ms Durrington's lawyer, Andrew List, consented to the case being sent up to the higher court without Magistrate Graham Hillan having to consider the evidence.

Mr Hillan committed the case to the Hervey Bay District Court, to continue at a date to be later determined.
