Driver told off policeman

PARKING his car in the middle of the road and yelling abuse at another motorist was bad enough.

Calling an off-duty police officer a “d***head” made things even worse for John William Gouge.

The 23-year-old Maryborough man was charged with being a public nuisance and driving without due care after his performance on Lennox Street on September 23.

Traffic came to a standstill on the road when Gouge stopped his car in the middle of the lane and got out to confront the driver behind him.

He yelled abusive language towards the man, then walked back to his car and yelled more abusive language at a witness, who happened to be an off-duty policeman.

He faced Maryborough Magistrates Court and pleaded guilty to both charges.

Magistrate John Smith described Gouge as a danger to other road users and banned him from driving for six months.

He was also fined $850.
