Drivers on move in roundabout way
AS THE date for the official opening of WetSide looms, infrastructure changes are being ticked off Wide Bay Water Corporation’s to-do list.
The roundabout outside the water education park, at the intersection of Main Street and the Esplanade, reopened yesterday morning.
It was closed in April to stop people driving too close to building works at the water park and a temporary T-intersection took its place.
Wide Bay Water Corporation communications manager Christina Maynes said road work would continue for the next week or so with modifications to the guttering and speed bumps.
She is advising drivers to take care.
WetSide is set to open on December 6, with Premier Anna Bligh expected to be in Hervey Bay to do the official honours.
The total cost of the park has been put at $13 million however there will be ongoing operational costs.
